Info about bone conduction:
Ok, i found this powerpoint presentation about bone conduction tech., so I am going to point out a few interesting things from it:
• It was discovered in 1550 by this guy who realized sound could be conducted thru his teeth.
• It is the transmission of sound thru vibrations in the skull.
• Bone conduction goes straight to the inner ear where cranial vibrations stimulate the hairs within the cochlea (the inner part of the ear, which surprisingly, looks like a seashell) - these vibrations are transmitted the same way as normal hearing to the auditory nerve. Safe!
• Low ranges transmit great, mid ranges (voice) transmit Ok, high ranges transmit badly.
• It can be transmitted thru: external sound only, bone conduction sound only, or combined sound. I don't know what the difference between these methods is...have to look this up.
• Can transmit sounds when it's loud, because bone conduction sounds are not subject to interference by outside noise.
• Bone technology is actually an old technology.
• There u go!
